The husband and me

Week One

We have been married for a week today. I like celebrating the times that don’t seem like big milestones to other people. All week long you’ve been saying “You’re my wife” and “Hello, wife” and other such things. It makes me smile and blush and giggle like a super nerd. I do the same thing to you and you smile. I can feel the love. There’s a fullness in the air that at the same time is weightless, pressure less, and filled with those gushy warm feelings that I always thought were made only for people that were less cynical than we are. This week I’ve changed my name from Brittany Brandt to Brittany Brandt-Smith. I’m still adjusting to it. I’ve loved signing my new name this week. I feel like we’re a part of each other even more with the addition of your last name on mine. It’s weird because I didn’t think I’d feel that sentimental about it. After all, I’m not that traditional. In a few days my mother and Greg will meet your family. I can’t wait. I love your family so much. I’m so glad to be a part of it. I’m excited to see what this next week brings.

Married: 01.22.2014

What I will never forget from our wedding day: the huge, genuine smile on your face as we said our vows that made me tear up. I can never get that image out of my head and I don’t want to. That’s the face of yours I see when I close my eyes.

The beginning

My husband and I were married on 01.22.2014. I've made it my goal to write about each week during our first year of marriage and give it it to him on our wedding anniversary.

Here I will post those things (with a few intimate details omitted for privacy). I will also probably end up posting more than just the weekly updates. We'll see! :)
